Season 3 Highlights & our SEASON 2 RECAP

Pointeworks completed its acclaimed second season with performances in La Jolla and Irvine, reaching 900+ audience members and expanding access through 160+ complimentary tickets for students, veterans, and first responders. Across five weeks in Southern California, the company united national-level dancers from eight professional companies, employing 14 dancers, 2 musicians, 2 composers, and 4 female costume designers, while premiering two new commissions by female choreographers and welcoming Sofiane Sylve as guest rehearsal director. Met with standing ovations, Season 2 affirmed Pointeworks’ growing regional impact and its role as a platform for bold, artist-driven ballet.

That momentum expanded nationally with Pointeworks’ Season 3 NYC Winter Residency, a two-week engagement at Baryshnikov Arts Center and New York City Center centered on new creation, artist employment, and access. The residency advanced a full new ballet commission by Jacquelyn Long set to an original score by Katie Jenkins, supported live collaboration with leading musicians, created off-season employment for 10 professional dancers, and provided subsidized classes for 48 pre-professional and professional dancers. Through interdisciplinary partnerships with Steps on Broadway Academy and the New York Film Academy, Pointeworks welcomed audiences into the creative process while strengthening national visibility, patron engagement, and institutional relationships—marking a pivotal step in the company’s continued growth and leadership within the field.

A message from Sofiane Sylve

At Pointeworks, our core values of passion, creativity, and unwavering dedication to the art form propel us forward. We are committed to amplifying diverse voices within dance, with a strong focus on empowering female choreographers. Recognizing the inherently seasonal nature of a dancer's work, our mission is to fill a vital gap in the arts community by providing rare, off-season opportunities that keep artists engaged year-round.

We foster dynamic collaborations between dancers, choreographers, and musicians, both on and off stage, ensuring that creativity thrives at every level. By connecting artists from all backgrounds, we ensure balanced representation in the classical and contemporary works we bring to life.
