Rieko Hatato’s

amour de jeunesse

Rieko Hatato choreographed Amour de jeunesse, a pas de deux piece for Sophie Williams and David Sloan. The title, meaning "Young Love" in French, reflects the theme of the performance. Hatato drew inspiration from Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 2 in G major, Op.18 No.2:2. Adagio Cantabile - Allegro, which evoked the image of a pure, playful, and loving couple. The piece begins with a young couple experiencing the first stages of love, and as the dance progresses, their relationship deepens, becoming more intimate, romantic, and mature. Amour de jeunesse premiered in March 2025 as part of PointeWorks' NYC tour.
