kyle Torres-Hiysohi
Kyle Torres-Hiyoshi is a soloist with Texas Ballet Theater and an original cast member of Pointeworks. Originally from Buffalo, New York, Torres-Hiyoshi began his dance training at the American Academy of Ballet. At the age of 15, he was awarded a full scholarship to continue his education at The School of American Ballet at Lincoln Center. After graduating, he joined American Ballet Theatre’s Studio Company and later danced with Boston Ballet II.
From 2014 to 2017, Torres-Hiyoshi was a member of Sarasota Ballet, where he performed principal roles in George Balanchine’s Rubies and Diamonds, Sir Frederick Ashton’s Sinfonietta, Valses Nobles et Sentimentales, Scene de Ballet, and Anthony Tudor’s Continuo. His repertoire also includes Balanchine’s Stars and Stripes, Jiří Kylián’s Wings of Wax, and Alexander Ekman’s Cacti.
Since joining Texas Ballet Theater in 2017, his notable performances have included William Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated and Christopher Bruce’s Ghost Dances. He has also performed Shibuya Blues by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Maple Leaf Rag by Martha Graham, and Jabula, choreographed by Natalie Weir.
In March 2025, Torres-Hiyoshi will join Pointeworks for its Season 2 NYC Tour, performing in an original work by DaYoung Jung. His continued collaboration with Pointeworks highlights his commitment to artistic innovation and expanding opportunities for dancers in both classical and contemporary realms
